Are you a Petersburg resident who has a positive story that you think ought to be shared? Share it with us now and share your story with our community.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking Petersburg natives and current Petersburg residents who have personal stories about themselves, their loved ones, or about prominent Black figures from Petersburg to share.

For example, maybe you and your family has lived here for generations. Or maybe you or a loved one has had personal accomplishments that went unnoticed. However big or small the story, we want to highlight you as the hometown hero that your city needs right now.

Share your story, and more importantly share any old photos that you have with us of yourself or of Petersburg. We'd love to share your story and the accompanying images with our readers and highlight how things used to be in that Petersburg Black community.

Why We Feel This Initiative is Important?

These stories have the power to heal the city and bring hope to a hurting community. Share and help us promote PTG pride.

PTG's branding intends to attract Black homeowners and rebrand Petersburg as a Black City with the tagline "The Birthplace of Black History Since 1748". Our vision is to narrate our own story with our own Black History and heal our own community.

So much of our history is lost through gentrification, white-washing, and the passing of our communities matriarchs and patriarchs. It is our hope that this time Blacks in Petersburg are cataloged on the right-side of history and are given the power to inform, inspire, and advance the next generation.

We believe YOU hold the key to healing our community and we want to dedicate our efforts to highlighting your story and giving you the power to make Black people as a whole, black newcomers to our City, black travelers, and blacks throughout the U.S. say to themselves "hmmm I didn't know that about Petersburg".
